This article explains how to check your current firmware version and how to update.
Those of you who’ve been following the series of BMW NAVi posts and the forums post, you’ll remember that we’ve been enjoying the great V32.2 firmware update in recent months. BMW obviously thought this update was good enough to include it as a default firmware update.
Sometimes you will find firmware updates for your BMW NAVI V2/3 with the exact same version number as the previous version. In other cases, you can upgrade to a new firmware with a more recent version number than your current software.
This article explains how to check your current firmware version, and how to update.
If you are not interested in reading all the technical details for each firmware version, the summary is as follows:
The V32.2 firmware update contains some new features and bug fixes.
As mentioned earlier, the most recent firmware update is not always available as a default firmware update.
You can find the firmware version in the following registry value.
REGISTRY_BASIC_INFO_INSTANCE.NWPDVersion

To confirm your current firmware version number, go to Start > Settings > System > About, and look for your version number.
Firmware updates may not automatically update your NAVi V2/V3 unless you update your navi firmware to the latest version.
To update, follow these steps:
Step 1: Open the BMW NAVi V2/3 software, and you will be asked if you want to upgrade your software. Click Yes.
Step 2: The software will check to see if you have the latest firmware update available. If you have, the update will be applied.
If you don’t have the latest firmware update available, you will be directed to download the latest update.
You can download the update in the following ways:
Open BMW NAVi V2/3 software. Click on Menu > Update. Click on update icon on the bottom right. Click on Download. Use the Download and Install application for your system. Click on “Download”.
